Visiting with Great Gramma!

We have been busy visiting with Great Gramma! I didn't have the girls on Thursday because Gwen had a doctors appointment and her mom decided not to go in to work. I was doing Turbo Jam when Mom called and asked did I mind if she and gramma came over. Gramma was having a fit to see the boys! Who wouldn't right? Just kidding...

We went to the park for a while and had a great time together. Her mind is getting a little bad so I was so glad that she got to see the boys and have fun with them for a while. We also got together with the most of the family Saturday night in Wrens for my cousins birthday/Anniversary. It was fun, like always. Kariokee (however it is spelled) is always fun! If you haven't tried it, I promise it is addictive!

I went to church with my parents yesterday since my gramma was going with them. Then we had dinner at my mom's with both of my grandmothers. I love spending time with them.

We went to One Church last night which is where a lot of the churches get together and have one big service. It was really good. Andrew's mom and husband went with us. Which is surprising because she is rather old fashioned thinking and thinks that our church is too modern! Even the boys were good! They didn't have a nursery but they were both good! Jonah went and sat with a family that loves him. I think they just miss that there kids aren't babies anymore! They are all so sweet though! You could see him being passed up and down the row of all of them wanting to hold him, which is a hard job anymore!

I am glad to have had the time with my Gramma. There are so many people at my age who don't have grandparents around anymore. I love to go to Granny's house and for her to get to know my children. It really means a lot to me, and I know to them also! I am also glad to have these pictures so in the future I can show my boys their grandmothers and tell them the stories they have told me! I love you Granny and Gramma!

Some busy days

I am still here...just been busy! Thursday we went to the park with all 4 kids and Ma. We had a nice picnic lunch and the older 2 had a blast playing. Noah slept really good that night! Jonah loved swinging and has us thinking about getting a swing to put in the yard.

Friday the girls left a little early and Andrew didn't have to work at his second job. We were supposed to go a concert at church but Noah fell asleep and was not a happy camper when he got woken up! So we stayed at Clyde and Charlotte's house while Daddy and Clyde went to play/practice hitting with Clyde's new bat. Then we ate over there. It was good, chicken on the grill, one of my favorites.

Saturday my awesome parents came and picked up the boys to play for a while so I could really get some cleaning done. I was proud of myself! I got the whole house clean except for our room, I still have a little work in there. I got rid of about 5-6 boxes of stuff! I did a lot of things that I usually don't have time to do with the boys here. I appreciate my parents so much for helping me out. We had them over for dinner after church on Sunday. Then we went to Andrew's softball practice and let the boys play at the playground for a while. They fell asleep not long after we got home and slept all night. Must be something about being outside and playing hard!

Yesterday the girls were here and for the most part it was a good day. Then we had Bible study and I actually went by myself with the boys. Andrew had to work late.

We have had a few busy days. I am going out shopping for shoes when Jonah wakes up! He needs them, not me! His feet are too big to wear Noah's old shoes so I am going to try to find him some sandals and some sneakers. I am going to a consignment shop right up the road to see what they have. Then hopefully Andrew will be home and we can go to Lowe's or Home Depot to find some blinds. And maybe some paint. Charlotte found a cute 3 drawer chest on the side of the road she thought would look good in the boys room. I think I will paint it red and put baseball pulls on the drawers. It will be cute in the room. I will take pictures, since I love pictures! I will post again soon. My grandma, my Dad's mom, will be here visiting for about a week. Jonah will be meeting his great-grandma from FL for the first time. I will put some pics of us this past week on here and some at the other blog. Have a great day!

Our day 4-15-08

Just a nice day today. A little chilly but nice. Andrew was off today so we ate cinnamon rolls for breakfast. Then we went out to get Andrew a haircut and we ate lunch at Firehouse. If you have never ate there before I suggest it. They have great subs. I like the New York Steamer. Noah even ate all his lunch! A high five for the grilled cheese!

Then we took Jonah to the doctor because he has had a cold for over a week. Turns out he has another ear infection! This is the 4th one I believe. Every time he gets a cold he gets an ear infection. Poor baby.

We just home a little while ago after meeting up with our friends Clyde and Charlotte for supper. We went to a Chinese buffet. It was pretty good, and actually cheaper than lunch! Andrew wanted to meet up with Clyde to try out his new softball bat. Clyde got a new bat, not Andrew! Those things are expensive! After they hit a few at a church ball field we went to eat. The boys fell asleep on the way home so I think that I am going to bed early as well. 6 am comes early!

A funny story...and a Monte Cristo Sandwich

Andrew and I love Bennigan’s Monte Cristo Sandwiches. The only problem is we have to drive at least an hour to get to a Bennigans. Not that the sandwich isn't worth the drive, but with 2 little ones, and gas prices, it is hard to do. Well, I found a copy cat recipe that is so easy! So now we no longer have to drive an hour to one of these sandwiches! I know it sounds gross, but believe me, it is so good! Thanks to my brother for suggesting it to me in Daytona Beach. I am hooked, foreveah!

Monte Cristo Sandwiches

8-12 cups oil for frying

Sandwich

3 pieces of bread
2 slices of Swiss Cheese
Turkey (recipe calls for 3 oz. I put on 2-4 deli slices)
2 slices of American cheese
Ham (recipe calls for 3 oz, I use 2-4 slices, deli sliced)

Batter

2 egg yolks
1 cup ice water
1 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda

Powdered sugar for dusting

Raspberry preserves for dipping

Assemble sandwich. Swiss cheese on top of bread, turkey on top, another piece of bread, then American, then ham, then 3rd piece of bread. Make sure nothing is sticking out of the bread and smish it down a little with your palm to make it stick together well.

Beat the egg yolk and add the water. Mix together. Add the flour and soda and mix together well, but not too well.

Cut the sandwich in half diagonally, and dip each half in the batter. Fry in deep fryer (I heat up to 400) until one side is brown, about 3-4 minutes and turn over. Then fry the other half the same time until brown. Drain on paper towels. Dust lightly with powdered sugar. Cut in half to have 4 pieces. Serve with the preserves for dipping.

I know it sounds gross, but it is great! I can usually only eat half of one of these. Andrew can manage the whole thing, and sometimes the rest of mine. And while I am talking about Andrew, he has lost 16 lbs. since getting his teeth pulled. And he is not really trying. Men make me sick sometimes! But congrats to him. I know he has wanted to lose weight for a while. Hopefully this is the beginning of what's to come!

And speaking of losing weight, I ordered Turbo Jam on Saturday! I have been wanting it for a while, but Noah really put a fire under my butt! I was sitting on his toy boy after we cleaned his room. He looks at the box and the lack of room for him to sit with me. He looks at me and says, "Mom, your butt is so big!" Thank you Noah for the boost to get off my butt and lose this weight! I really need to before vacation and just to be more healthy. I will let you know how Turbo Jam works for me!

Our Youth

Our youth group at church did this play a few Sundays ago. I have been looking for it ever since. It really makes you think about everything our kids go through these days. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. It will make you cry!

Another blog...for pictures

Just wanted to let you all know that I have started another blog! I know, I have gotten bitten by the bug and I can't stop! It is just going to be random pictures that I take...as I take a lot of them and no one ever gets to see them, so they will be posted there. Here is the link. http://stubbphoto.blogspot.com/

I hope you enjoy them and let me know what you think!

Happy Birthday Dad aka PA!

It is my dad’s 52nd birthday! I want to wish him Happy Birthday and many more to come!

I want to thank my dad for years of selflessness he showed us. He worked hard to provide a good life for his wife and children. We may not have much but we knew that we were loved. We didn't always get what we wanted, but we always had what we needed. I know, now that I have my own family, and a husband who is out providing for us, how hard Dad worked. I know what a sacrifice it was for you to go out and work and not be at home with your wife and children. I thank you Dad for everything that you taught me through the years, and are still teaching me and your grand-boys today! Have a wonderful birthday and we love you!

A few tidbits...

Happy April to everyone! I am not that into April Fool's jokes, at least not yet. Maybe when Noah gets a little bit older and can understand more, I may have to find some things to do...

Well, Jonah has weened himself! I am kind of glad and kind of sad! I am glad because he is finally starting to teeth and sad because it feels like he is growing up so fast! I am not ready for this stage of his life to be over, but he will be one in only a few short weeks. I can not believe how fast his first year of life has gone!

In Noah news, we had his Pre-K registration last week. I had wanted him to go, but the more I thought about it, he is still my baby and I want to keep him home with me for as long as possible! So I prayed about it and said that if he is meant to go he will be one of the twenty that they pick and he if is he not, I would be fine with that too. He is smart, so I'm not worried about that. He knows just about all of the letters by sight and does great with numbers. He has been writing his name for at least a year, so I'm not at all worried about that. I do think he could use some discipline from someone other than me and daddy, but with Gwen here he is getting better. Plus, when he turns 4 he will actually go into a REAL Sunday School class, instead of the nursery. I think that will help him too. So anyway, long story short...ha ha, he was number 33 on the waiting list for his school. I was glad, he is my baby and I can wait another year to send him to school. I was glad however to find out that when he starts school he will go to the new Elementary school here in town. He really wants to play baseball, but I don't think anyone will let us sign him up until he is 5. He can play soccer at the Y when he is 4 though, so we will look into that.

I have been doing some major cleaning and getting rid of SO much junk! I am not the world's best housewife and will admit that I HATE to clean. I would much rather play with the boys that clean! But with the girls that I am keeping, (Gwen gets into EVERYTHING) and Jonah walking and getting more and more curious, I have decided to get everything in order and try my best to be more organized! We will see how it goes!

I will leave you with a few pictures that I took with my new toy! Isn't it cute!
I think they have the same cheeks!

My tubby boy! Check out those shoes!
I love Zwieback toast! Another wild hair day!

Happy Birthday to my cousin Nathan! We love you!
